FamilyMeans has three volunteer needs that are ongoing. To see the current list of pop-up volunteer opportunities, please visit our Community Thread page.
In-Home Respite
FamilyMeans is looking for volunteers willing to provide in-home respite (a break for caregivers) for families in Washington County. In-home respite consists of going into caregivers' homes weekly and providing non-medical care to care receivers. This can include playing games, having conversation, and providing companionship. Volunteers are asked to volunteer 3 hours a week (2 hours minimum). These times are flexible and can be molded into your schedule and the family you are matched with. This can be done individually, with your family, or as a small group.
Group Respite
FamilyMeans is looking for volunteers to help with our group respite programs: Day Out. Night Out, and Community Connection. Caregivers drop off their care receiver (or attendees drive themselves) to our locations and they participate in activites, music, and more with their peers. Volunteers are needed to provide a safe environment and help lead clients through activities.
- Forest Lake Community Connection (Forest Lake YMCA)- Every Tuesday from 12pm-4pm
- Stillwater Community Connection (FamilyMeans)- Most Wednesdays from 12:30pm-4:15pm
- Day Out (FamilyMeans)- Every Friday from 9:30am-1pm
- Night Out (FamilyMeans)- 4th Tuesday of Every Month from 5:15pm-7:15pm
