FamilyMeans Statement in Response to George Floyd’s Death

Jun 04, 2020

As fellow Minnesotans gather today to remember George Floyd, FamilyMeans President, Jim Kroening issues this statement:

FamilyMeans envisions vibrant and resilient communities where everyone lives to their fullest potential. We strive to strengthen communities by helping individuals and families through challenges at all life stages.

We are deeply saddened and angered by the senseless and tragic death of George Floyd, sadly one of many who have been victims of violence.  We recognize the hurt that our clients, employees, and our stakeholders are feeling.  We believe that everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy community where we care for or about one another.

FamilyMeans has a long history of advocating for older adults and caregivers, those who seek better mental or financial health, and disadvantaged youth in Cimarron and Landfall. Fulfilling our mission is only strengthened at this time.

FamilyMeans is committed to continuing its work as an organization to learn, discuss, and cultivate an inclusive environment for all individuals, families, and communities we serve. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of George Floyd and stand with others in calling for justice and change to prevent tragedies like this from occurring in the future.
