Most working adults can agree that their job is stressful. In fact, 80% of workers report feeling stress at work, and half of those people say they need help in learning how to manage stress. This stress is known to affect both personal and work lives. Leading to less sleep, more sick days, and ultimately poor on-the-job performance.

The American Institute of Stress has gathered the following data:

Americans are working longer and harder then every before, averaging 47hr/week.

Work-place violence has become an increasingly serious problem resulting in the common use of terms such as Desk Rage or Phone Rage.

The number of employees calling in sick due to stress has tripled.

Occupational pressures lead to workers suffering from back pain, fatigue, and headaches.

Job stress costs U.S Businesses over $300 billion annually due to accidents, absenteeism, employee turnover, diminished productivity and more.

Employers are finding that supporting their employees by helping them to manage stress leads to better workplace morale, increased productivity, and cost savings. A great way to provide this support is through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). EAPs provide confidential support for employee work and personal life stresses.

Studies show that when an EAP service is provided to employees work loss was avoided in 60% of cases, and in 72% of cases, job productivity was increased.

FamilyMeans Employee Assistance Program is a St. Croix Valley based program that provides EAP services to companies large and small. As part of the EAP program businesses can support their employees through counseling & therapy services, financial solutions, caregiving & aging services, and legal referrals.
