FamilyMeans Youth Bike Program is in Full Swing!
Jun 23, 2017
Each summer the Landfall and Cimarron Youth Bicycle Programs propel participants to learn, get fit and explore the community around them. Participants in the program learn the basics of bike mechanics and use our well-equipped shop to repair their bikes. Throughout the summer the youth will bike on road and trails to bring them to fun and exciting destinations such as ice cream shops and parks.
This years' summer of cycling kicked off last week with a record number of participants! 29 youth from Landfall and Cimarron pedaled in the sunshine during the opening ride of the season. The youth got moving as they made their way up and down rolling hills. View a short clip of their ride below!
Funds for this program were raised at the Chilkoot Café and Cyclery Fundraiser in May 2017. With the support of a matching gift and many generous individuals and organizations FamilyMeans was able to meet our stretch goal of $13,000 in support of the bike programs in Landfall and Cimarron. By reaching this goal FamilyMeans will be able to operate a fully staffed youth bike program and as a result, have more days learning bike mechanics and more kids taking rides than ever before.
Thank you to all who support FamilyMeans and the youth bike programs.
What a fun way for local youth to stay busy and active this summer!!
