FamilyMeans’ 6th annual Power of the Purse takes place just two weeks after the 2014 Winter Olympics wrap up. And, this year former Olympian Karyn Bye Dietz will be at the event to share her experiences from the 1998 Winter games in Nagano, Japan, and the 2002 Winter games in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Karyn and Team USA received gold and silver medals, respectively.
Nearly a decade after living her Olympic dream, Karyn is now a fitness expert and trainer and also a wife and mother of two who lives in Western Wisconsin.
In its sixth year, the Power of the Purse event has brought a host of speakers to share their stories of hope, perseverance, struggle and success. The speakers have included Kevyn Burger, TV and radio personality; Ann Bancroft, educator and explorer; PJ Tracy, mother/daughter writing team of mystery thrillers; Rachel Swardson, business owner and entrepreneur; and Colleen Lindstrom, radio personality on FM 107. A hearty, sit-down brunch is served.
The event starts with a silent auction with an array of fashionable purses, handbags, totes, and wallets plus other items ranging from photography sessions to restaurant outings and other fun surprises. There is something for everyone – from young girls to seasoned ladies (and men, too)!
