Day Out Program Volunteers

Right here in Stillwater, MN and surrounding communities, volunteers for the FamilyMeans' Day Out! program received their own award for helping caregivers find a break from their caregiving duties. The award received was the "Outstanding Group Award" bestowed upon the FamilyMeans volunteers from local organization Community Thread and the Washington County Board of Commissioners. The award was presented the morning of Tuesday, April 23 in a ceremony that takes place at the Washington County Government Center. The Day Out! program is in its second year and remains a popular respite option for families caring for adults with chronic health issues. Each session includes a variety of activities to keep the participants engaged ranging from songs and crafts to games and outdoor exercise. Each week introduces a theme that sets the focus for the day.
