FamilyMeans Has Grown Like a Well-Tended Garden
Kicking off National Volunteer Week is a heartfelt thank you to all of our FamilyMeans’ St. Croix Garden Tour volunteers who have been instrumental in managing the event for the past 20 years. In 2012, more than 150 volunteers helped more than 900 guests visit the breath-taking gardens throughout the Stillwater area.
According to one of the founders who began the event in 1993, “we were looking for something that would symbolize the nurturing central to FamilyMeans’ mission and a garden tour seemed the perfect tie-in.”
Each tour over the past 20 years has been successful because of the many volunteers who have donated their time and talent. It takes people serving as event organizers, garden scouts, garden owners and hosts, master gardeners, board members, ticket sellers, map makers, sign posters, people to publicize the event and many more willing to help any way they are able.
Everyone coming together to be a part of the St. Croix Garden Tour, from volunteers to attendees, has been instrumental in supporting the programs and services of FamilyMeans.
As we wait for the ground to thaw, we anticipate another successful garden tour in the making that will take place July 13-14, 2013 during FamilyMeans’ 50th anniversary year.
