Behaviors and interventions with a focus on dementia is the topic for the March meeting of the Caregiver Support and Education Group Series offered by FamilyMeans and Stillwater Medical Group

STILLWATER, Minn., February 28, 2012 – FamilyMeans and Stillwater Medical Group will host the session “Behaviors and interventions” for people caring for someone with memory loss on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Stillwater Medical Clinic. The monthly caregiver support and education sessions provide caregivers a place to connect with others in similar situations as well as have the opportunity to talk with medical experts and caregiver support professionals. Stanley Smith, M.D., a geriatrician with Stillwater Medical Group along with Lisa Schiemann and Carol Davis, caregiver coaches and counselors with FamilyMeans, serve as the facilitators.

The group will explore issues including:

• Managing difficult behaviors
• Maintaining personal balance
• Planning for legal needs
• Coping with depression
• Developing support systems
• Accessing community resources
• Understanding and dealing with the realities of memory loss

When: First Wednesday of every month from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Where: Stillwater Medical Group Clinic (conference room A) 1500 Curve Crest Boulevard in Stillwater (Note: the clinic is not located at Lakeview Hospital)
