Caregiver Support and Education Group Offered by FamilyMeans and Stillwater Medical Group

STILLWATER, Minn., April 20, 2011 – FamilyMeans and Stillwater Medical Group have teamed up to offer a monthly caregiver support and education group to people caring for someone with memory loss.

The monthly sessions will provide caregivers a place to connect with others in similar situations as well as have the opportunity to talk with medical experts and caregiver support professionals. Stanley Smith, M.D., a geriatrician with Stillwater Medical Group along with Carol Davis and Lisa Schiemann, caregiver coaches and counselors with FamilyMeans, will serve as facilitators.

The group will explore issues including:
Understanding and dealing with the realities of memory loss
Managing difficult behaviors
Maintaining personal balance
Planning for legal needs
Coping with depression
Developing support systems
Accessing community resources

When: First Wednesday of every month (beginning February 2011)
1 to 2:30 p.m.
